About Agora
Agora Eats Cafe was first opened and operated by UBC Food Services in the MacMillan building, home to the Faculty of Land and Food Systems. In 2004, UBC Food Services abandoned the site, at which time the Food Nutrition and Health student committee approached them for permission to use the site to sell snacks and baked goods from time to time. In September of 2005, Ashley Wan, a dietetics student, created and organized the very beginnings of Agora as a student run and opperated volunteer cafe. Since that time, Agora has undergone many internal structural changes and has been passed through the hands of three additional General Managers, all of whom have left their mark on Agora along with the rest of the managerial team. Agora continues to push ahead, making headway in the mission to provide a cafe which encompasses the values of the Faculty of Land and Food Systems and to provide meaningful experiences for our volunteers.
